Itinerary
This is a small group departure designed for 12 passengers
Day 1 – Vancouver, BC
Arrive today in Vancouver, BC, where you will be met at the airport by a transfer vehicle waiting to transport your group to your hotel for the night. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore the city on your own. This evening, enjoy a welcome dinner. (D)
Day 2 – Flight from Vancouver to Whitehorse – Evening Northern Lights Viewing
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the air for your flight to Whitehorse, Yukon to begin your Northern Lights adventure.
After arriving in Whitehorse, you’ll be welcomed at the airport and transferred to your downtown hotel for a three-night stay. At the hotel, you will enjoy an informative meeting with a local expert and will be fitted for winter clothing to prepare for the evening.
There will be time this afternoon for relaxing at the hotel, shopping and having dinner on your own.
The evening is dedicated to your first night of Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) viewing. The Yukon is one of the best places to watch the Northern Lights in North America because the mesmerizing phenomena best occurs near the magnetic poles. Whitehorse lies directly beneath the auroral oval, and with three scheduled viewing nights, increase your opportunity for sightings.
Late this evening, you will be transferred just outside the city to a cozy, heated cabin or wall tent where hot drinks and snacks will be waiting for your North Lights viewing experience. A guide will be on hand to highlight the experience. Return to the hotel around 12:30 am. (B)
Day 3 – Whitehorse City Tour – Evening Northern Lights Viewing
After a late night, enjoy a leisurely morning to sleep in and enjoy a late breakfast. Today will feature a guided Whitehorse City Tour with a local guide. Discover the Frontier History of Whitehouse and learn more about its Northern geography. This tour will feature Main Street, the White Pass and Yukon Route Train Depot, the SS Klondike sternwheeler, the Log Church, the Log Skyscraper, and the fish ladder near Schwatka Lake. The tour provides context for how transportation, river systems, and the Gold Rush shaped this region.
The afternoon includes free time and dinner at your leisure before a second night of Northern Lights viewing later in the evening. Once again, hot drinks and snacks will be provided in the warmup tent, where you can enjoy the roaring fire and share stories with fellow travelers. Return to the hotel around 12:30 am. (B)
Day 4 – Free Time or Yukon Wildlife Tour & Hot Springs Experience – Final Northern Lights Viewing
Today, enjoy another leisurely morning followed by free time or Yukon Wildlife and Hot Springs Experience.
Your group can explore Whitehorse on your own. Downtown Whitehorse, located along the scenic Yukon River, is a walkable, historic hub featuring frontier-style buildings, museums, cozy cafes, and local shops along Main Street.
OR enjoy Yukon Wildlife Tour and Hot Springs Experience. On this tour, you will enjoy the pristine, snowy landscapes of the Yukon on a winter wildlife tour. Encounter majestic caribou, elusive lynx, and more in their natural habitat. Enjoy the mesmerizing Northern Lights while learning about Canada’s rugged wilderness. An unforgettable journey of exploration and wonder. Then relax at the Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs, Yukon’s only hot springs.
Dinner is on your own this evening followed by one final evening to enjoy the magic of the Northern Lights. Enjoy warm drinks and snacks in a cozy tent, by a roaring fire, sharing stories with fellow travelers under the Northern Lights. (B)
Day 5 – Banff National Park – Lake Louise – The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
After breakfast, you will be transported to the Whitehorse Airport for your direct flight to Calgary. By midday, you arrive in Alberta, where a coach carries you west into Banff National Park. The landscape shifts from open prairie to rising mountain peaks as you approach Lake Louise.
Here you enjoy a two-night stay at the Fairmont Château Lake Louise, set directly on the frozen lakeshore beneath Victoria Glacier. Opened in 1890 as part of Canada’s grand railway hotel tradition, the château has long defined winter in the Rockies.
After checking in, the evening is free to settle into the alpine atmosphere. Hotel amenities include the indoor pool, spa facilities, lakeside skating rink, and curated winter programming place the mountain setting at the center of the experience. (B)
Day 6 – Horse-Drawn Sleigh Ride on Lake Louise – Free Afternoon
Start the day with breakfast at the Chateau before enjoying a horse-drawn sleigh ride across the snow-covered landscape of Lake Louise, framed by glacier-fed peaks and forested slopes.
This afternoon, discover the enchantment of Banff National Park as the picturesque landscape of Lake Louise transforms into a scene from your favorite Christmas card. The sleigh rides promise magical memories that linger long after the snow has melted. Crafted with care, these traditionally styled sleighs boast plush upholstered seats and snug blankets, ensuring your journey is as comfortable as it is breathtaking. Pulled by majestic draft horses, these gentle giants take you on a peaceful and awe-inspiring sleigh ride.
The remainder of the afternoon and evening is yours to enjoy the château’s setting and amenities. You may walk the lakeshore trail, skate beneath the mountains, unwind at the spa, or simply settle beside a window as light shifts across the ice. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at the Chateau Lake Louise. (B,D)
Day 7 – Depart for Home
Following breakfast, at the hotel, you will be transferred to the Calgary airport for your return flight home. (B)
