Itinerary

Day 1 – Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Today, fly to Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Then you will be transferred to Banff for a two-night hotel stay. Tonight, enjoy welcome dinner at the hotel. (D)

 Day 2 – Banff & Yoho National Parks – Lake Louise

After breakfast, prepare for a guided tour of the Canadian Rockies. Cross the Continental Divide and experience the mountains, lakes and canyons of both Yoho and Banff National Parks. See the “Jewel of the Rockies,” Lake Louise, commemorating the daughter of Queen Victoria, Princess Louise Caroline Alberta. Then, visit the famous Valley of the Ten Peaks and Moraine Lake. A day of spectacular mountains, glacier-fed lakes and beautiful canyons! Returning to Banff, dinner is on your own this evening. (B)

Day 3 – Columbia Icefields Parkway – Athabasca Glacier – Jasper

This morning, travel north along scenic Columbia Icefields Parkway, located in Jasper National Park, that winds between snow-domed peaks and immense, hanging glaciers. Moose, bear, deer, bighorn sheep and mountain goats flourish throughout this area. Stop and visit the greatest mass of ice outside the Arctic Circle, the Columbia Icefield and the mighty Athabasca Glacier. Enjoy an exciting ice explorer ride across the glacier. Melt waters from this ice-mass flow into the Pacific, Atlantic and the Arctic Oceans.

This afternoon, you have an opportunity to embark on an unforgettable helicopter excursion over the Icefield and the Canadian Rockies (optional). Later, continue to Jasper and check into the Jasper Inn for a two-night stay. Enjoy dinner on your own and the rest of the evening at your leisure. (B) 

Day 4 – Maligne Lake Scenic Cruise – Maligne Canyon

Following breakfast, board your private motorcoach and travel to the scenic Maligne Lake. Here, board a boat for a guided cruise on this spectacular lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Stop at Spirit Island as you marvel at Canada’s most photographed lake. Afterwards, enjoy a guided tour of Jasper including beautiful sights such as Maligne Canyon and Pyramid Lake. This evening, return to the inn for an included dinner. (B, D)

Day 5 – VIA Rail Trans-Canadian

This morning, wake to the tranquil beauty of the majestic Rockies. You have some free time to enjoy optional sightseeing around Jasper, the Jasper Tramway or a rafting excursion.

Later, board Via Rail’s The Canadian and get comfortable in your Sleeper Touring Class accommodations for the Trans-Canadian journey to Toronto. Via Rail has a special check-in for guests in Sleeper Touring Class. Join your fellow travelers in either the dining or observation car and enjoy the scenic ride. Your overnight VIA Rail venture includes complimentary meals. (B, D) 

Day 6 & 7 – Traveling Eastbound

Travel through four of Canada’s provinces and their main cities: Edmonton, Alberta, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Winnipeg, Manitoba. Midway between Jasper and Edmonton, have your last look at the majestic Canadian Rockies and reflect upon the great experience you had while touring through them. As the train crosses into Manitoba, you enter a land of forests, lakes, and streams; it is not unusual to see bears or moose. Many of Manitoba’s lakes were formed by meteor craters. In contrast, Saskatchewan possesses the unique beauty of prairie lands. Again, enjoy complimentary meals during your overnight VIA Rail journey. (2B, 2L, 2D) 

Day 8 – Arrive Toronto

Enjoy an included breakfast aboard The Canadian. This morning, your train arrives at Toronto’s Union Station. A private transfer is waiting to bring you to the Delta Chelsea Hotel for a one-night stay. Free time has been set aside for you to enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure before attending the “farewell” dinner tonight. (B,D)

Day 9 – Niagara Falls – Buffalo – Depart for Home

Following breakfast, board your private motorcoach and travel south to experience the majesty of one of the world’s greatest natural wonders, Niagara Falls. Travel through Niagara Peninsula, a lush wine-growing region, before arriving at the Falls. Enjoy a panoramic view of the falls before boarding the Maid of the Mist for an exhilarating boat ride to the base of spectacular Horseshoe Falls. Enjoy some free time for shopping and picture-taking before continuing to the historic, picturesque community of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Your tour concludes as you continue across the Canada/United States border before arriving at the Buffalo Airport for your return flight. Arrive home with many fond memories and new-found friends from your amazing Canadian Rockies Adventure! (B)
