Itinerary
Day 1 – Gananoque, ON – Evening at Shorelines Casino
Arrive today in Ontario, Canada where you will enjoy a two-night stay in Gananoque, ON, the Gateway to the 1000 Islands.
This evening, enjoy free time and dinner at the Shorelines Casino. The Casino offers slot machines, live and electronic table games, high limit areas and the most delicious dining amenities around! (D)
Day 2 – 1000 History Museum – Free Time Downtown Gananoque – 1000 Islands Boat Cruise – Thousand Islands Playhouse
After breakfast, visit the 1000 History Museum, a waterfront museum where you can experience ten thousand years of Canadian history in the Thousand Islands. From rum runners to river rats, explore the people, places and heritage of Gananoque and the St Lawrence River through interactive exhibits, and hands on activities and a quality gift shop.
Next, enjoy free time and lunch on your own in Downtown Gananoque. Nestled in the heart of the 1000 Islands, Gananoque is a beautiful historic town. The small town has stunning 18th century historical buildings, museums, restaurants and shops.
The afternoon features a 1000 Islands Boat Cruise. This 3-hour cruise departs from Gananoque and features onboard audio commentary in English and French tells the story of the 1000 Islands region, its history, and the stories of those who have called it home. You will see the famed Boldt Castle and lavish homes of the rich and famous on “Millionaire’s Row.” Learn about and discover the remarkable feats of engineering required to build the St. Lawrence Seaway, 1000 Islands International Bridge and so much more! The 3-Hour 1000 Islands Cruise is the perfect way to explore the scenery that has made the region famous throughout the world. (Admission to Boldt Castle is not included with this cruise.)
Dinner is included tonight at a local restaurant followed by a show at the Thousand Islands Playhouse. The Thousand Islands Playhouse was called “the most charming theatre in Canada” (CBC Radio) in a “breathtaking location” (Toronto Star). Known as Canada’s Dockside Theatre, it has been presenting live entertainment in the heart of the 1000 Islands for over 35 years. It welcomes over 40,000 patrons every summer, with a season running from May – October. As the largest theatre company between Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal, the Thousand Islands Playhouse presents a wide range of works including lively musicals, compelling dramas, and raucous comedies. Day 3 – 1000 Islands Tower – Depart for Home
After breakfast, visit the 1000 Islands Tower. See a spectacular view of the 1000 Islands, 400 feet above the St. Lawrence River! The elevator takes 40 seconds to reach the first enclosed observation deck. For the more adventurous, there are two more decks that are accessible by stairs. Following the tour, depart for home.
