Itinerary
Day 1 – Kansas City, MO – Hallmark Christmas Experience (Friday- Sunday, Mid-Nov to Dec)
Arrive today in Kansas City, MO where you enjoy a two-night stay at a local hotel.
This evening, head to the Crown Center, located outside Hallmark’s headquarters, for the third annual Hallmark Christmas Experience, an immersive event with all the charm of a Hallmark movie town square.
The Christmas Square features spectacular tree light shows, delicious treats, a card sending station, one-of-a-kind gifts from vendors at the Christmas Market and so much more. There are also a Hallmark Movie-Thon and a collection of Hallmark’s history at the Hallmark Visitors Center, ice-skating and a magical light walk. Dinner will be on your own this evening.
There are also some optional activities that can be added for an additional fee. Special ticketed events include celebrity appearances, workshops, and dining experiences.
Day 2 – Harry S Truman National Historic Site – Bingham Waggoner Estate w/Lunch – Afternoon of Christmas Shopping – Evening of Theatre
After breakfast, visit the Harry S Truman National Historic Site in Independence, MO. Take a guided tour of the historic Truman Home. With thousands of artifacts on display, the home is an insightful glimpse into the personal lives of the Trumans. Come learn the story of the 33rd president, his beautiful wife Bess and their family. President Truman spent eight Christmases in office but only two in the White House preferring to celebrate at his home in Independence.
Next, enjoy a catered lunch and holiday tour at The Bingham-Waggoner Estate Carriage House. The Estate sits on over 19 acres near the Independence Square, which is truly a one-of-a-kind gem in Independence, Missouri. Near the Truman Presidential Library, The Bingham-Waggoner Estate offers its own special look into an earlier era. This Estate was once the home of George Caleb Bingham a politician and frontier artist. In 1879, Peter Waggoner purchased the estate and used it as the family home until 1976. This well-preserved Estate features more than of the 90% original furnishings, carpets and paintings, and provides insights into the lifestyle of the 19th century wealthy residents.
Returning to Kansas City this afternoon, enjoy free time for Christmas Shopping. From craft goods and luxury retailers to antique picking and one-of-a-kind souvenirs, there’s no shortage of unique shopping options available in Kansas City.
Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant followed by an evening of theatre. Options could include the Kansas City Ballet’s “The Nutcracker,” Kansas City Symphony, the Kansas City Repertory Theatre’s “A Christmas Carol,” the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra, a show at Music Theater Heritage or other Christmas shows based on availability.
