Itinerary
Day 1 – Louisville, KY – Derby Dinner Playhouse
Arrive in Louisville, KY and check into your hotel for a two-night stay. This evening, your group will enjoy the dinner buffet at The Derby Dinner Playhouse along with a live theatre production. It is a great evening of entertainment. (D)
Day 2 – Churchill Downs Walking Tour – Kentucky Derby Museum – Halloween Hatitude – Evan Williams Bourbon Experience – Conrad-Caldwell Ghost Tour – Jack O’ Lantern Spectacular & Dinner
This morning, take a Historic Walking Tour of Churchill Downs Racetrack led by a knowledgeable tour guide. Walk through the Grandstands where thousands of people roar with excitement on Derby day. Your Tour Guide will lead you to the rail of the legendary dirt track where every Derby winner has raced, from Aristides, to Secretariat, and many more. Your Guide will share stories of the early days of the Kentucky Derby through its transformation into the iconic event it is today.
Then enjoy a tour of The Kentucky Derby Museum located on the grounds of Churchill Downs. Dedicated to preserving the history of the Kentucky Derby. You will have access to two floors of interactive permanent exhibits. Viewing of the Greatest Race a 360 degree, 18 minute experience that will make you heart race & emotions soar.
There will also be time for lunch on your own at the Derby Café. Lunch menus will offer a rotating selection of popular deli-style sandwiches, paninis, soups, salads, as well as a variety of fresh fruit.
Included with your visit to the Derby Museum is Halloween Hatitude that will get you into the holiday spirit! Show your witchy side by creating a Halloween-ready hat or fascinator! The museum will provide all the spooky-themed add-ons for you to create the perfect Trick-or-Treat ready accessory.
The afternoon features The Evan Williams Bourbon Experience features an artisanal distillery, guided historical tours. Celebrating the legacy of Evan Williams, Kentucky’s first distiller, this immersive experience brings to life the history and tradition of Kentucky’s native spirit. Your tour includes a demonstration on how to make Kentucky’s native cocktail – The Mint Julep.
Then enjoy a Ghost Tour of the Conrad-Caldwell House. Let the Ghosts of the Conrad-Caldwell House welcome you with a “spirited” introduction to the mansion. Afterwards follow in the footsteps of the ghosts of Conrad’s Castle as they take you on a tour through the mansion and share their favorite haunts throughout the historic museum.
End the day with a dinner buffet followed by the walking tour of the after dark Jack O’Lantern Spectacular. It has become the “must-see” event of the Halloween season. Presented each October along a winding path through the majestic woods of Iroquois Park, guests are treated to an organic art gallery of more than 5,000 artistically carved pumpkins in themed settings.
